Acceleration Television & Video is a company run by David Winstanley and Terri Metcalfe, both of whom are responsible for the production of all ATV’s television programmes, and DVD’s. Over the years the company has been involved in the production of more than 120 programmes that have been seen on Men & Motors, The Travel Channel and Motors TV. At first, in 1997, 98 there were 44 episodes of The Rally Show for Men & Motors, but more recent productions have included 6 x 1hour programmes on the London to Sydney Marathon and 3 series of Out of Control, the most popular motor sport show ever seen on satellite television with viewing figures topping 1,500,000 for series one. In addition to that, coverage of the 2004 MG Trophy shown as 2 x 1 hours series on both Men & Motors and Motors TV showed that the company could easily handle both circuit racing as well as rallying.

What makes most of the rally programmes unique is that Acceleration TV has developed a unique style with some of the series, such as the London to Sydney Marathon in which they actually compete in the events themselves, and make a series of programmes which are part sports report, travelogue and video diary – see rallying for more details on this.

Acceleration TV has also become renowned for its end of event prize-giving presentation videos in which during the end of event prize-giving, competitors and officials are shown highlights of the event which ATV’s cameramen have filmed during it, which has then been edited each evening to offer a video memory of about 10 minutes. DAVID WINSTANLEY – PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

David is to many, the face, and voice, of Acceleration being the presenter and commentator of all of their programmes. Davids’ first involvement in motorsport was as a competitor in the early 70’s before starting filming the sport in the mid 80’s. Since then he has managed to combine both the sport and the business side of things and is responsible for hundreds of hours of TV and video productions. Although some see him as a television presenter who competes, he likes to think of himself as a competitor who presents and with over 30 years experience as both racing and rally driver there are few who could argue with that.

TERRI METCALFE

Terri only became involved in video and television production in the early 2000’s, by filming at corporate events, but full involvement as a camerawomen on the Trial to the Nile, a classic car rally that started in Germany and finished by the Pyramids 21 days later, provided a huge boost in terms of experience. Then followed a period of gaining experience of both working as a camera women and editing until by 2004 Terri was completely responsible for the editing and production of the RAC Revival which was shown on Men & Motors and Motors TV rally before in 2005 moving on to edit and script both the London to Dakar World Cup Rally, and the Carrera Mediterana. As any women would understand, it’s usually David that gets all the credit for these productions, when in fact all he has done is speak the words that Terri has written for him.
